Here's our second day of highlights from the upcoming American Law Institute-CLE Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation / Condemnation 101 Conference, which will be held in Austin, Texas, from January 28-30, 2016.
This is the first time the conference has been to Austin, and we're hoping for a good turnout. Here's the full agenda for the program.
- We especially focused on the ethics component this year, and are looking forward to the session on "Ethics: Tips and Traps for the Eminent Domain Practitioner" at the first plenary session on the second day, taught by Jamila A. Johnson (Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, Seattle), Robert B. Neblett, (Jackson Walker L.L.P., Austin). and Joseph V. Sherman (Waldo & Lyle, P.C., Norfolk, Virginia).
- Pipeline takings are a huge issue, and we've got the lawyers on the very tip of the spear on these cases. "Pipelines and Energy Corridors: Valuation Perspectives of Condemnors and Condemnees," taught by David A. Domina, (Domina Law Group PC LLO, Omaha, Nebraska), Thomas H. Peebles IV (Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP, Nashville, Tennessee), Matthew P. Ray, MAI (Cantrell & Ray, Inc., Jacksonville, Florida), and Joseph T. Waldo (Waldo & Lyle, Norfolk, Virginia).
- Another big topic is "The Municipalization of Utilities," and this session will be led by two lawyers well-versed on the subject, Christopher M. Clough (Barron & Adler, LLP, Austin), and Rick E. Rayl (Nossaman LLP, Irvine, California).
- We've also made an effort to not limit perspectives to those of property owners, and we will have one session devoted entirely to "Advice to Condemnees from Condemnors," with F. Adam Cherry, III (Randoph, Boyd, Cherry and Vaughan, Richmond, Virginia), and Janet Bush Handy Deputy Counsel, Assistant Attorney General, Maryland State Highway Administration, Baltimore).
The complete agenda is posted here, and we think it has more than a few sessions that will catch your interest. Registration here.
Special thanks to our sponsors: Barron & Adler, LLP, Forensic Appraisal Group, Ltd., McFarland - Condemnation Attorneys, and Miller Nash Graham & Dunn.
Come, join your colleagues for three days of fantastic programming, networking, and fun in Austin. Hope to see you there.
