There's still time for you to attend one (or more) of the screenings in our upcoming law film series. In conjunction with the Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Museum of Art, we're screening five films about lawyers and the law:
- Crime After Crime (the award-winning documentary about two land use lawyers who assist a jailed domestic violence victim pro bono) (September 1)
- To Kill a Mockingbird (voted by lawyers as the "best" law film of all time) (September 2)
- The Castle (for that eminent domain connection, naturally) (September 4)
- Counsellor at Law (a forgotten John Barrymore classic about a private lawyer in New York) (September 5)
Each film will be introduced by a Damon Key colleague, who will lead a discussion of the issues raised following the movies. On Opening Night, there will be a reception from 6:00 - 7:30, before the Hawaii premiere of Crime After Crime. Joining us for a discussion of the film will be U.H. Law Dean Avi Soifer and the film's Director, Yoav Potash (who will join us by Skype from California).
- Anatomy of a Murder (James Stewart, George C. Scott, Lee Remick, and Ben Gazzara. Plus a Duke Ellington score) (September 6)
Find out more at the series' web site www.lawinfilm.com with screening dates and times and all the details, including trailers and reviews. Advance tickets may be purchased here. If you are in Honolulu on any of the screening dates, be sure to join us.
